Prior to becoming a whale watching charter vessel the Kerra Lyn was a Queensland Marine Parks vessel used for research, patrolling and environmental work in the waters of the Great Barrier Reef and Torres Strait Islands. Apart from being a fantastic whale watching / bay cruise vessel, she has the ability to take groups of around 12 people on multi week long trips. She is a large spacious and comfortable and can travel from Dunsborough to Darwin without having to call into port for supplies .Being an ex-government vessel she has been very well looked after and has many extra safety features that exceed industry requirements.  Geographe Maritime is a preferred recipient with the Western Australian Department of Parks and Wildlife for scientific and research work in the Sharks Bay to Kimberly Region with the Kerra Lyn. The New Zealand Navy also charters the vessel when in the West for training exercises.
